Crossbreed between Cane Corso/ Mastino Napolitano.

Watch out form cross bred dogs. I had the nasty experiance to buy a dog who was a cross bred between cane corso and mastino napolitano.
to see the pictures, look on photo page one.
It´s the grey/white dog. Still it was a good character dog.

Origin of the Cane Corso.

The cane corso comes from Italy. No one knows exactly when, but the breed dates back to at least the year 12oo. The cane corso belongs to the molosser family and it´s roots lay with the roman empire, just as the mastino napoletano. In that time, the dogs were used in italy for different purposes. They were used as guard dogs, for hunting wild boar, and for herding cattle. For example, they had to guard the terratory, but not attack family and friends. Due to the shift from an agracultural to an industrial society, the cane corso lost it´s function in the italian society. Luckely the cane corso did not dissapear altogether. The cane corso has, since then, become a recogniced breed in the Netherlands.

Appearance.

The height of the dog varies between 58 and 68 cm. The weight varies between 38 and 50 kg. The cane corso has short hair and a very shiny coat. The coat can be of differant colors including black, gray, read (light brown), deer-fawn, sand color, and mixed. The mixed colors occor in different combinations of the normal colors. The cane corso will usually reach an age between eight en ten years.
